Season ends in quarterfinal loss

As the quarterfinal state game ended with a 3-2 loss at Wolcott, the 14th seeded Cats were very dissapotinted.  For an hour and 1/2 the Cats had the game under control.  Burt throwing curveballs the Wolcott players were swinging and missing, a nasty off-speed pitch the Eagles couldn't hit and the Cats had a 2 run lead.  In the 3rd inning kim Ferris beat out an infield hit and stole second.  Burt came to the plate and hit a double to score Ferris and Carissa Wasikowski followed with an RBI triple to score courtesy runner Morgan Scinto. Then in the sixth in a matter of minutes the game changed completely as the Cats defense made a couple of unfortunate miscues.  The Eagles took advantage with a hit to score the eventual go-ahead run.

And that was it. Another loss in which the game seemed to be under control and 1 bad inning and the game is over.  The Cats outhit the Eagles 7-2 but could only muster a couple of runs.

Amanda Willette in her final game as a Wildcat, played her usual outstanding game with a single and a running catch of a fly ball.  Amanda finihed her career at Seymour with a batting average of .485 and did not commit an error all year.  She will play in the senior all-star game June 15 in Meriden and will play in the Umpire's All-Star game on June 19 in West Haven.  We  wish Amanda the best of luck in those games.
